An announcement from Waleswide
It is with a deep sense of loss that Waleswide has to announce that David Ollerton – our friend, our partner in the Gospel, our leader, and the founder of Waleswide – went to be with the Lord in the early morning of Saturday 18th March.
David’s wife Liz sent this message: ‘David died very peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. We are so grateful we all shared his last hours together, and while we miss him greatly and grieve, we are comforted by the certainty that he now sees the Saviour he loved and served face to face.’
All in Waleswide will miss David’s friendship, his vision to see revival in Wales, and his dedication to see Gospel churches planted and struggling churches revitalized. Yet we will also give thanks for his faith, for his dedication to the God-given vision of ministry that is Waleswide, and for the extraordinary energy and passion he was able to display serving that vision the length and breadth of Wales.
In order to honour David we would humbly ask you to do three specific things:
1. Please pray for Liz Ollerton, Ruth, Andrew, Joy and the wider family that the Lord would be their comfort at this time.
3. Please pray for the future of Waleswide – our trustees and our core leadership team will need wisdom, vision and direction in order to bring to fruition all that David prayed and worked for.
Whenever David and I shared a car journey to or from a Waleswide working group meeting, he would point out homes, chapels, even gravestones, of many of the men of faith from Welsh history, and would then tell me a little of their story of dedication to the Gospel and service for the Lord Jesus. David Ollerton now stands shoulder to shoulder with those men of faith and joins the list of Wales’ great men of God.
Yours in Christ our Saviour,
on behalf of Waleswide
P.S. There is a new message from Liz Ollerton with details of the thanksgiving service here.
